Only Survivor in Accident That Killed Tatenda Pinjisi Shares Chilling Details

The sole survivor of the deadly road accident that claimed the life of Sungura musician Tatenda Pinjisi has opened up about the traumatic experiences that occurred on the fateful day.
Pinjisi, 34, died at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital on Sunday after sustaining injuries in a horrific accident along Norton Tollgate on Friday, April 11. He and his band crew were heading for a show in Kadoma when the accident happened. Two of his band crew and a female passenger who had been picked up earlier at the Harare Showgrounds died instantly.
The sole survivor of the accident recalled how suddenly a car drifted into their path, without being able to react and leading to a gruesome head-on collision.
"Panga pane motokari yanga iri ku right iri like tuma mini Bakers Inn. Kukamota kwanga kune 5 iko kechi 6. Mukomana wekamota akangobva ku right side achiuya ku left. Pamwe akaona kuti irikuuya kana kuti haana kuona. I don't know. Yakangobva ku right side ichiuya ku left. Munhu uyu akauya akatopedza ma gear akarovera patiri ndokubva yaita head-on," said the man.
He remembered the gruesome moment of impact and the wounds that left Pinjisi in a critical state.
"Tatenda was hit first after the head-on. The steering wheel hit him, then the engine pinned him," he said. "His right thigh was broken, his left arm was broken, and he had deep lacerations on his face from broken glass."
The survivor also narrated how he managed to survive the crash, by a hair.
"I'm the only survivor of the crash," he said. "When we crashed, I was flung onto the driver's seat, and then flung back. That's when I realized that the others had already died." iHarare
