Mai Dhuterere removed from remand

By Prosper Dembedza, The Herald - HARARE magistrate Mr Tapiwa Banda has removed Dorcas Vambe, popularly known as Mai Dhuterere, and wife to renowned gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere, from remand in a case in which she was accused of fleecing a local politician of US$16 000 in a botched vehicle deal.
The magistrate directed that the State should proceed by way of summons if it is to pursue the case.
The allegations, as stated in court documents, stem from an occurrence in September last year when Vambe allegedly worked together with her brother to swindle the complainant.
Vambe is charged with lying that she could source a Toyota Hilux GD6 from Botswana on behalf of the politician, who had set aside US$16 000 for the purchase.
The complainant subsequently discovered that the deal had not been sealed, hence the legal action.
With the matter now removed from remand, it remains to be seen whether the State will pursue the case by summons. The Herald
