President Emmerson Mnangagwa has launched a new land tenure system aimed at enhancing security, investment, and productivity for farmers. Speaking at the launch event of the Land Tenure Implementation at Precabe Farm in Kwekwe, President Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of secure land tenure in encouraging investment, stating that farmers who have secure land rights are better positioned to access finance, thus improving their productivity and income.
The introduction of title deeds is expected to provide farmers with the necessary security to unlock the full potential of their land. This step is in line with the Second Republic’s commitment to empowering beneficiaries of the Land Reform Programme by offering them tangible, legal ownership of land.
The president underscored the need for inclusivity as the new land tenure system is rolled out, ensuring that war veterans, women, and people living with disabilities are given equal opportunities in benefiting from the initiative.
He also urged financial institutions to recognize and embrace title deeds, as they will be crucial in facilitating access to finance—an essential component for boosting agricultural productivity.
In conclusion, President Mnangagwa encouraged recipients of the title deeds to use them responsibly, as they not only represent ownership but also play a role in defending the country’s revolution and sovereignty.
