A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Epworth, where a 16-month-old boy drowned in a water-filled rubbish pit while playing outside his home. The incident occurred on December 18, 2024, in the Overspill area.
According to National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the child had been left playing outside while his mother attended to household chores.
“The ZRP reports a sad incident in which a 16-month-old baby boy drowned in a waterlogged rubbish pit,” Commissioner Nyathi confirmed.
